Colorectal surgeon turns chef
PHILADELPHIA-Dr. Alan Resnik has worked his way up the GI tract.
The one-time assistant professor at Jefferson Medical College has gone from colorectal surgeon to apprentice chef at Le Bec Fin here. Dr. Resnik, whose wife is an anesthesiologist, left the OR in 1994 at age 44, fed up with insurance hassles. Among cooking's similarities to medicine, the six-month course at the French Culinary Institute in New York ran $18,250. That's no chitlin.
