HOUSE DOCTORS
And then there were seven

WASHINGTON-Physicians in the House of Representatives have nearly doubled.

Newly elected were FP Vic Snyder (D-Ark.) and ophthalmologist John Cooksey (R-La.). Reelected after a 10-year House hiatus was ob-gyn Ron Paul (R-Tex.), once the Libertarian Party’s presidential candidate.

All four incumbents were returned: Drs. Dave Weldon (R-Fla.), Greg Ganske (R-Iowa), Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), and Jim McDermott (D-Wash.). Six doctors running as Democrats and four as Republicans lost. Dr. Howard Dean, a Democrat, was reelected governor of Vermont.
