Renaissance physician goes to Mir

HOUSTON-The latest U.S. astronaut to board Russia’s aging Mir spacecraft, where just about anything may break down, is prepared for just about anything.

Dr. David Wolf, 41, is a pilot, inventor, electrical engineer, and internist. He has expertise, says NASA, in computer control systems, bioprocessing, physiology, fluid dynamics, and aerospace medicine. With 11 patents, he’s on the board of the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
