Chiropractors try to “correct” HCFA

WASHINGTON-The chiropractors are unleashing George McAndrews against HCFA.

McAndrews is the lawyer who won a “correction” to the AMA’s description of chiropractic as an “unscientific cult” and $3.5 million from the AMA in expenses. Now he’s leading the American Chiropractic Association’s legal team against Medicare+Choice rules.

The ACA is irate that unlike Part B fee-for-service, which guarantees access to chiropractic spinal manipulation to “correct a subluxation,” Medicare+Choice allows plans to let patients get it from DOs, physical therapists-or even MDs-as well as chiropractors. -Mark Bloom
